Architect's Design

You will be aware that for some time that the front of the Church has required a great deal of repair and renovation. This has taken some time to come to fruition due to various aspects, from investigating the degree of the problem, to agreeing a design, an invitation to tender and obtaining planning permission from East Renfrewshire Council.

Everything has now been agreed and you will be aware that work has started.

There will be a degree of inconvenience to parishioners over a period of time and we would ask you to understand this and work with us until completion.

In the short term entrance and exit to the Church will be via the side door due to safety issues and we would ask you to take care when exiting the Church at the end of Mass and show consideration to fellow parishioners, especially the elderly and disabled.
It is anticipated that any inconvenience will be kept to a minimum,

The Church organ will be out of commission for a period of time as access is required to remove some of the stained glass windows. A temporary organ will be in place during this time.

It is anticipated that the Church Stall will remain open, but there may be times when the Stall may not be available due to safety concerns. If so alternative arrangements will be made. Mass cards etc will always be available.

The work encompasses: -

• Repairing the supporting iron work
• Repairing all rotten woodwork inside and out
• Removing the perspex screen in front of the stained glass windows
• Erecting a new screen curtain (double glazed units)
• Removing the stained glass windows, repairing if possible, replacing broken glass, replacing lead surrounds with aluminium frame and re-installing stained glass windows
• Erecting two new sets of glass etched doors
• Installing new fascia boards
• Repairing and cleaning brickwork
• Landscaping of surrounding areas

A schedule of work is detailed below and will be updated on a regular basis as work progresses. (Last updated 14th October 2017)
