Introduction
The Abbey Stained Glass Studios, Dublin designed, manufactured and installed all of the stained glass windows for St Vincent de Paul Church in 1959; Job No. 548 dated 23rd June 1959
The late Frank Ryan negotiated the details for the design, manufacture and installation of all the Church windows, which was one of many such projects in Scotland during that time. Frank’s son Ken continues to work in the Abbey Studios in Dublin.
The Abbey Stained Glass Studios in-house artist responsible was William Earley ANCA. William has been retired for quite some time (b. 1930), spending his winters in Spain.
During the past fifty five years your stained glass windows have become buckled which is a natural progression as the lead perishes over time and causes the individual coloured antique glasses to crack. This can be rectified by a restoration process to the original state.
The Altar Windows
The window to the left of the Altar shows the Eucharist – “I am the Bread of Life”. It also shows the Monstrance, grapes (wine), Host and Chalice, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, ICH (Iēsous Christos), the Lamb of God, the Pelican ( the mother of the pelican is said to pierce her breast to feed her young with her own blood).

The window to the right of the Altar shows the life of St Vincent de Paul: In chains when captured by pirates, administering the Sacraments, visiting the sick, comforting the afflicted.
It also shows St Louise the Daughter of Charity.
The Side Windows

The first window shows God the Father
The second window shows God the Son
The Greek Letters (Χρ - Χριστός) are for Jesus Christ Lamb of God.
The Letters Α Ω are the first and last letters of the Greek Alphabet – the beginning and the end. The same Greek symbols can be found at the front of the Altar.
Windows on the Right
The first window shows Our Lady Lily of the Valley – Mary’s Purity. A sword will pierce her heart. It also shows the Fleur de Lys symbol of Mary Queen of Heaven.
The second window shows the symbols of the Passion of Our Lord.
The third window shows the symbols of the 7 Sacraments – Baptism, Confirmation, the Eucharist, Penance (Confession), the Priesthood, Sacraments of the Sick and Marriage.
The fourth window shows the four Evangelists – Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. John unfortunately is missing due to damage.
The Choir Loft
The window in the choir loft, when first installed, was said to be the largest stained glass window in Britain, designed in the modern French manner. It depicts the 15 decades of the Rosary. Unfortunately some are missing due to damage over the years.
